What is the point of offering refuge to someone who is fleeing a threat if you cannot prevent the threat from reaching them in the place of refuge? For example, what good is a battered woman shelter if the screening process for people granted access to the shelter is not sufficient to prevent the batterer from harming the victim while at the shelter?

If the United States is going to grant refuge to people fleeing a threat in their home country, it implicitly assumes responsibility for their safety; which includes ensuring the threat from which they fled does not reach them.

ISIS is known to execute Muslims and anyone else who does not embrace its ideology; without compunction; and it has expressed a resolve to gain access to the United States. US failure to stem the flow of illegal aliens into this country; and the reckless abandon with which it has been admitting refugees makes an ISIS infiltration into the US a real possibility.

Trying to implement a more effective and controlled process while the rate of influx prevails would be tantamount to trying to overhaul a jet’s engine while it is in flight.

President Trump’s efforts to ensure the safety of everyone on American soil should be supported by all Americans who embrace the sentiments of the Constitutional Convention when it stated, in part,

“In all our deliberations on this subject, we kept steadily in our view that which appears to us the greatest interest of every true American, the consolidation of our Union, in which is involved our prosperity, felicity, safety—perhaps our national existence. This important consideration, seriously and deeply impressed on our minds, led each State in the Convention to be less rigid on points of inferior magnitude than might have been otherwise expected; and thus, the Constitution which we now present is the result of a spirit of amity, and of that mutual deference and concession, which the peculiarity of our political situation rendered indispensable”.

In other words the integrity and perpetuity of this nation is at all time paramount.
